how are these traditional beds made?
EPOC specialise in making handcrafted pocket sprung mattresses and divan beds to the very highest calibre and in the traditional manner, as they have since 1949. EPOC use only the finest products and materials in their beds and treat every item as a bespoke piece.
With great attention to detail they hand make everything to order and use natural fillings including coir, hair, cashmere, lambswool, mohair, silk, wool, GOTS certified cotton, hemp and flax and bamboo. Nature constantly replenishes these raw materials which are unsurpassed in resilience, durability and ventilation.
Finishing touches include hand side stitching to the mattresses and bases beautifully upholstered in a fabric of your choice. EPOC Beds grace many 5 star hotels, stately homes and holiday homes all over the world.
How do I know these traditional beds will work for me?
We will be in touch with you directly to discuss your mattress and divan requirements. We have sixteen beds in our range to choose from all available in different tensions and the moment we have discussed your needs we will be able to narrow it down to a number of options.

How do I get the bed upstairs?
Number one rule, measure your doors and staircase opening please!
Once we know what can fit we can work with you to ensure that the dreamiest of beds is delivered to you in just 4-5 weeks. Each bed is made to order and installed by EPOC.
Do you make bespoke size traditional beds too?
Yes we do. EPOC can make any width or height bed you would like, from a yacht to a stately home – including mattresses and bases for four poster beds – and in a variety of fabric finishes.
I would like to personalise my new bed?
We will personalise your bed with your own embroidered name or logo at no extra cost. Choose whatever you would like written on the panel or handles of the bed and we will ensure it is there for you at delivery. Examples include the name of your house, family name or crest or even a tongue in cheek ‘His Lordship’ and ‘Her Ladyship’!
I need a headboard and a valance on my bed. Are you able to provide this service too?
This is a wonderful idea and absolutely! We design and produce headboards in house and our team of makers make bed valances. Sarah would be delighted to design this with or for you – find out more about our Bespoke Furniture service. Supply your own fabric or we can steer you in the direction of upholstery fabrics and if any fire treatment is required.
EPOC and sustainability
At EPOC Handcrafted Beds, there is a ‘zero to landfill’ sustainability target, ingrained into the company ethos and enforced by their ISO 14001 approval.
EPOC will install your beds and remove all plastic packaging, which is sent for recycling. For a small fee your old bed can also be removed for recycling, where it is hand stripped by a recycling contractor and the fillings cleaned and reused elsewhere in the furniture and automotive industries.The EPOC factory is audited regularly to ISO and National Bed Federation standards to ensure their goal is reached.
